Totally Tempe Tuesdays: Intergalactic Adventure
Tuesday, June 16
2:00pm - 3:00pm
Tempe Public Library
Desert Willow Program RoomBlast off into space at the library with cosmic crafts and games for the whole family!
Join us for an intergalactic adventure filled with cosmic crafts and games. During our space party we'll be making rocket ships and alien spacecrafts, designing astronaut helmets, tossing asteroids, and more! Our celestial event will conclude with a librarian rocket ship race to see which team of librarians are the fastest in the galaxy.
We are excited to host Intergalactic Texture Rubbings with artist Daniel Mariotti at this event.
Participants will create futuristic-inspired drawings using laser-engraved objects and texture plates. By placing paper over these surfaces and using drawing tools to reveal patterns, participants will build compositions that combine organic shapes with glitch-like repetition and distortion.
Daniel will introduce how his work explores the overlap between natural forms and digital processes, encouraging participants to experiment with layering, overlapping, and repeating patterns to create images that feel both familiar and futuristic. The goal is to create compositions that resemble imagined landscapes, fragmented images, or “glitched” natural forms.
