A panel of Tempe leaders in discussion inspired by Dr. Stanlie James' book "Practical Audacity: Black Women and International Human Rights".
Join Tempe Public Library for a discussion about how black women in Tempe and beyond have led the way in supporting human rights. This panel discussion will be hosted and moderated by Dr. Felicia Durden with Dr. Stanlie James, author of Practical Audacity: Black Women and International Human Rights. Panelists include Dr. Velicia McMillan Humes - Chief Diversity Officer for the City of Tempe, Octavia Harris – Executive Director for the Tempe Community Council, Lisa Groom – Community Affairs Specialist for Tempe PD and founder of the Tempe Black Employee Alliance, and Councilmember Berdetta Hodge. There will be an opportunity for audience questions and if anyone has purchased a copy of Dr. James' book, she will sign them at the end of the event.
