Join costume maker, Star Dancer, for this workshop that will show you how to take a comic or movie character and turn it into a working costume.
This workshop will show you how to take a comic or movie character and turn it into a working costume. From analyzing the character, to sketching for your body proportions, to choose of fabrics to sewing tips, this workshop with Star Dancer will cover it all. No sewing involved. Participants will start developing a sketch for outfit of their choice with instructor assistance. Participants should bring in a picture of the comic/movie character outfit they want to know how to make if you have one in mind. If possible, but very optional, participants can bring an 8 x 10 full figure facing front photograph of themselves printed on regular copy paper, to make sketching easier.
Star Dancer has been making costumes starting with outfits for her dolls at age of 5 to present. Although specializing in Star Wars costume recreations, she has also worked on recreating movie accurate costumes from DC comics, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Blazing Saddles, and Hocus Pocus to name a few. She is a member of the “Rebel Legion” and “The Dark Empire” and is often found at charity events costuming as various Jedi and Sith. Her Star Wars costumes span the Old Republic games through the current media including books and graphic novels.
