Introductory American Sign Language (ASL) Workshop

Learn the basics of ASL and gain insight into Deaf experiences.

This is an engaging beginner-friendly workshop introducing participants to basic American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf culture, visual communication, and accessibility awareness. Participants will learn foundational signs, interactive communication activities, and gain insight into Deaf experiences and community perspectives in a welcoming and inclusive environment. 

No prior ASL experience is required. For ages 14+

Earl Terry is a Deaf educator, artist, curator, advocate, and founder of Gecko BASL + Protactile + ASL LLC and MDVAP (Melanated Deaf Visual Artists Project). His work centers Deaf culture, Black American Sign Language (BASL), Protactile, accessibility, storytelling, and community engagement through arts and education. Based in Arizona, Earl collaborates with community organizations, libraries, artists, and institutions to create inclusive Deaf-centered spaces that uplift marginalized voices and strengthen cultural visibility across the state.
